Infertility can be very difficult to cope with. Understanding the terms that doctor's use can help relieve some of the stress and assist you in making your decisions on treatment options. The information on this site is intended to help provide patients information on the issues that can lead to infertility, but should not replace a consultation with an infertility specialist.

Emotional Support

Undergoing fertility treatment is often a very emotional experience. Trying to have a baby can often impact individuals and couples in ways they do not expect. It is important to have someone to talk to about your struggle with infertility and how you are feeling. You can talk with someone in your family, a trusted confidant, a member of the clergy or a professional counselor.

Professional counseling services available

At The Fertility Center, we offer a licensed counselor to meet with our patients as individuals or couples at our Grand Rapids, Michigan location. You can schedule an appointment either in the office or by phone.

Our Infertility Counselor

Kristin Blackwell, LMSW is the counselor at The Fertility Center and provides emotional support services at our Grand Rapids, Michigan location. She received her master's degree from the University of Michigan and has extensive training and many years of experience in the psychological aspects of undergoing infertility treatments as well as other women's health issues. Kristin has a hospital-based background focusing on women and children's concerns in a medical setting. She is available by appointment to meet with individuals or couples to help find healthy ways to deal with the stress of struggling with infertility. Kristin can also help out-of-town patients find a licensed therapist in their area.
